In accordance with the Charter, Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz has been performing work in hunting dog breeding.

On June 12, 1969, by the Order of the General Department of Game Husbandry and Wildlife Sanctuaries of the RSFSR Council of Ministers No 140, Rosokhotsoyuz received the right to keep the Pedigree-Studbook for Hunting Dogs which allowed for the centralized keeping qualitative and quantitative record of the hunting dog livestock as a part of Russia’s national endow and cultural heritage. Since that time, Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz has been conducting the main activity in hunting dog breeding.

The 60, 70 and 80-s is the time of the peak activity of hunting dog breeding under the Alliance’s supervision. A large number of activities were performed, such as exhibitions, breeds, contests and competitions. Large houses for hunting dogs were built in Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Kirov, Moscow, etc.

These activities were performed at the period of functioning of the Cynologique Council at the RSFSR Main Department of Game Husbandry and Wildlife Sanctuaries, which regulates the main working principles in dog breeding, including hunting dog breeding. The Council consisted of the leading cynologist experts of those days: Mazover, Voylochnikov, Shereshevsky, etc.

The Council stopped its work in late eighties. Some of its functions, such as conducting the Central Qualifications Committee’s business, were transferred to Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz.

In the 90-s, the times of economic tribulations, the Alliance did not only manage to keep from disintegration, but also maintain the traditions developed throughout the centuries-long history of Russia’s hunting dog breeding.

Nowadays, Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz is performing the whole range of activities in hunting dog breeding. The majority of field activities and exhibitions for all breeds of hunting dogs are held under the auspices of the Alliance. The Pedigree-Studbook for hunting dogs is kept, the activity of the Council of the All-Russian Studbook for Hunting Dogs was restored, the Central Qualifications Committees’ activity is carries out, and the Central Pedigree Committee.

The Alliance’s perspectives and plans in the development of hunting dog breeding include the use of a unified “Hunting Dog Certificate”, creating an electronic database for hunting dogs, experts, and much more.
